Trump Sells 1st Amendment to Iran

President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced the sale of the First Amendment, guaranteeing freedom of speech, to Iran. This follows numerous recent declarations from the president decrying the Iranian government's crackdown on protestors.

"Hey, we're not using that amendment anyway. Why not get a few dollars for it? One government should stop shooting protestors, and another government...? Say no more. Capiche?"

The populace of Minneapolis was unavailable for comment.

Executive Order to Establish New Grammar Rule

President Donald Trump announced in a Truth (sic) Social post that he will be signing an executive order to change the rules of grammar. Effective immediately, all complete sentences must contain a noun, a verb, and "Joe Biden."

A high-ranking White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity, explained that the original idea was that the rule would only apply to bad economic news, the Epstein files, immigration enforcement folly, naval misadventures, and similar issues. But on reflection, the administration realized a simpler blanket rule amounts to the same thing. "No news is good news" added the official, apparently completely misunderstanding the maxim.

As Black Smoke Rises from Sistine Chapel, Trump Claims Vatican Conclave Rigged

Blasphemer

The US President declared in a Truth (sic) Social post that the papal conclave is rigged.

The Radical Left Lowlife Junior College Of Cardinals is trying to cover up their Cheating in the last Conclave by Cheating even More in this one!! Everyone wants me as Pope! Many, perhaps all, Bishops are saying to me "Sir, I'm Praying for you to be Pope!" Ask any Catholic and they'll tell you. But the Deep State Communist Cardinals are against me.

Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, was unavailable for comment. Plenty of other Cardinals practically tripped over each other to give a pithy quote, but it's Pizzaballa or nothing, in this reporter's view.

One, Two, Three, Four! I Declare a Trade War!

President Trump yesterday announced tariffs on imports from our closest allies. Particularly hard-hit are Atlantis, the Duchy of Grand Fenwick, Tatooine, Arrakis, Elbonia, Lilliput, Brobdingnag, and Bali Ha'i.

[Editor's note: a previous version of this story mistakenly included Eastasia in the list of new tariffs. We've always been in a trade war with Eastasia. We regret the error.]

Gulf of America

The White House announced today that, in addition to the previously-announced Gulf of America, many more geographic names are slated to change. A preliminary list includes the following:

New Mexico: New And Improved Mexico.

Rio Grande: Half-caf/half-decaf Rio Venti.

Arkansas: Still Arkansas, but now pronounced Are-Kansas.

Rhode Island: Rhode. Just Rhode. It's not an island, people! Have you looked at a map?!

Niagra Falls: Viagra Falls. This was unexplained, but a White House insider who declined to be named said it was the President's personal decision. Winking and making a finger-guns gesture, the source concluded with "'Nuff said."

Virginia and West Virginia, North and South Carolina, and North and South Dakota will be combined to become, respectively, Virginia, Carolina, and Dogpatch. The electoral consequences of this made Democratic campaign strategists' eyes grow as big as saucers. The White House, when asked to comment about this aspect of the change, said "That's not a worry, 'cause we never thought of that."

Finger Lakes: Wiener Lakes. Acknowledging that they don't especially look like wieners, the White House defended the change, saying they don't really look like fingers either.

In related news, all restaurants will now be renamed to McDonald's.

Trump Appoints Economic Council Co-chairs

Hawley, Smoot

President Trump today appointed Sen. Reed Smoot and Rep. Willis Hawley as joint chairs of the National Economic Council. The announcement came as a surprise to economists all across the spectrum, from Phil Gramm to Paul Krugman. "I thought those two were as dead as their ideas," said Gramm. Krugman just sighed, buried his face in his hands, and quietly groaned.

Ludwig von Mises sprang from his grave, lurched towards the White House, spotted Elon Musk on the way and gave him the finger, saying "I got your gesture right here!" He burst into the Oval Office, slapped the President, then shambled back to his resting place, shouting "Don't make me come back again!" as he clawed his way back into the ground.

Fermat’s Next-to-Last Theorem

Archivists have discovered a previously unknown conjecture by Pierre de Fermat. Found scribbled in the margin of his copy of the January 1979 issue of Tiger Beat magazine is the following note:

I have devised the most marvelous proof that Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” is the best disco song of all time. I don’t have room here for the entire proof.

Reaction from disco academics has been divided. Said Dr. Lenny Euler of USC, ‘This is nonsense. It’s long been known that Donna Summer has ten or more better disco songs. Gauss knew that in his crib!” In contrast, Dr. Pete Laplace of the University of Chicago commented “I think Fermat is correct, but, alas, more than a decade of my own toil has been spent in vain trying to prove just that. I have completed the related proof that Heart of Glass is, of the indisputably great disco songs, the best new wave song. Are you listening, Nobel committee?”

Debby Harry did not respond to requests for comment.

President-elect Trump Announces the Death of Irony

In announcing his second choice for Attorney General, Donald J. Trump said on Truth (sic) Social that nominee Pam Bondi will end the weaponization of the Department of Justice. Ms. Bondi is most known for exclaiming "Lock her up!" from the dais of the Republican National Convention.

GOP apologists, who wish to remain anonymous on grounds of severe shame, point out that Trump only promised that Bondi would end DOJ weaponization against Republicans.

Trump Retracts Oz Nomination; Names New CMS Admin

President-elect Donald Trump has retracted his nomination of Dr. Mehmet Oz to the position of Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Sources close to the former game show host said the reasons were twofold: he found out Dr. Oz was Muslim; and as anonymous sources quoted Mr. Trump, "That's not who I meant! That's the wrong Oz!"

The new nominee is the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Congressional GOP leaders reacted positively to the change. Speaker of the House Mike "Mike" Johnson said "Oz will enhance the other nominees. For example, he can give Matt Gaetz a heart, and RFKjr a brain. You know, the whole worm thing." Paging through his list of nominees, Rep. Johnson was heard to mutter "Needs a brain... brain... brain and heart... brain..."

Trump Picks Captain Kangaroo for Secretary of the Navy

President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Captain Kangaroo as the next Secretary of the Navy. Exasperated Senator Chuck Schumer said in a press conference on Tuesday “Another TV personality? How many is that? And what does Bob Keeshan know about the Navy?” An aide to the senator explained that no, it’s not the actor Bob Keeshan who played the beloved Captain Kangaroo for twenty-nine years that Trump has chosen, it’s the character of Captain Kangaroo who will fill the top job in the US Navy.

Continued Schumer “How is that even possible? And isn’t Bob Keeshan dead? OK, yes, yes… it’s not Keeshan, it’s the Captain. I’m going to have to think about this.”

Incoming Senate majority leader John Thune, R-SD, promised to promptly hold confirmation hearings, if Mr. Moose doesn’t drop ping-pong balls in the hearing room. “Then all bets are off.”

Trump Appoints Self to New Cabinet Position

In a post on Truth (sic) Social, president-elect Trump appointed himself to the position of Secretary of Unnecessary Capitalization.

I am pleased to announce that Former President Donald J. Trump will be joining the Trump Administration as Secretary of Unnecessary Capitalization. I've known Don for a long time, and there is Nobody Better at including Capital Letters in Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives, Adverbs, And Conjunctions. Failing Lamestream English Teachers may say these Letters are incorrect, but nobody knows Grammar like Donald J. Trump. I've heard from MAGA English Teachers from all over the Country, and many of them, especially from MIT, are saying "President Trump, I've never seen anybody Capitalize with such brilliance as you."

Illiterates everywhere were unavailable for comment.

Trump Proclaims “Yearning to Breathe Free” Now a Crime

poor
President Trump, in executive order number 13842, entitled “Immigrant Deportation Is OK, Totally!” today declared that henceforth, it will be illegal to yearn to breathe free.

The order (known informally as “I.D.I.O.T.”) applies not only to huddled masses, but also to tired, poor, wretched refuse, homeless, tempest-tost [sic], Muslims, and Latin Americans.

Caucasians, unless registered as Democrats, are encouraged to yearn as much as they want, to breathe as free as free can be.

Two former presidents, who wish to remain anonymous, said “In retrospect, perhaps relying so heavily on executive orders set a poor precedent. As Professor Chris Edelson has written...” (frankly, this reporter nodded off and missed the rest of that quote), and “S***, dog, I told y'all about the evil triplet isms.”

Senator Charles Schumer responded to the order by saying “Here in Congress, our hands are tied. What would you have us do? Pass a law? Don’t be ridiculous!”

Scientists Create Human/Pig Embryo

Scientists have created an embryo that contains both human and pig cells.  Nicknamed "Donald'' by the team of white-lab-coat-wearing ghoulish tinkerers, the embryo is said to have tiny hands and a fat head.

"It's incredibly sensitive - over-sensitive, I'd say - to the slightest stimulus," said team leader Dr. Mary Richards. "Other than that, it just seems like a regular pig, mostly."

Judge Reinhold's Arrest Puts Supreme Court Appointment in Jeopardy

DALLAS - Judge Reinhold was arrested Thursday on charges of disorderly conduct. He was involved in a fracas with security agents at Dallas Love Field airport. Some witnesses say it wasn't a fracas at all, but merely a kerfuffle. Others called it a ruckus.

Washington was abuzz with talk of whether president-elect Donald Trump would withdraw Reinhold's name from nomination for the Supreme Court seat left vacant lo these many months by the death of Antonin Scalia and the contumacy of Congress.

Trump Remembers Fidel Castro

President-elect Donald Trump held a press conference today to hail Fidel Castro, deceased leader of Cuba, as a "sincere and reliable friend of Russia - I mean America." Reporters were puzzled that his lips weren't synchronized with his words, and that he seemed to have developed a Russian accent.

Mr. Trump went on to say "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. It's totally not Putin."

Trump mourns "Partridge Family" Matriarch Florence Henderson

President-elect Donald Trump today expressed the grief of the nation, one day after beloved actress Florence Henderson passed away. Unsuccessfully fighting back tears, Mr. Trump rambled on for 35 minutes, mostly about the rivalry between Danny Partridge and Reuben Kincaid.

Mr. Trump's Senior Counselor designate, Stephen "Steve" Bannon, briefly pulled Mr. Trump away from the podium and whispered in his ear. A visibly relieved Trump resumed his remarks, saying "Oh, thank God! Not Mrs. Partridge! I didn't like the Mom on 'My Three Sons' anyway. Never mind!"

Trump Decrees Hungry Hungry Hippos Match

President-elect Donald Trump has determined that his two finalists for the position of Secretary of State, Mitt Romney and Rudolph W. Giuliani, will fight it out in a winner-take-all, best-of-five Hungry Hungry Hippos cage match. It will be shown on pay-per-view cable television at a date to be determined. Insiders expect it to take place before the end of November.

Las Vegas oddsmakers had initially picked former New York Mayor Giuliani as a 5-to-2 favorite. As a New Yorker and a former prosecutor, he has a bit of a reputation as a street fighter. Former Governor Romney, on the other hand, has a reputation akin to that of mild-mannered comic book character Richie Rich.

However, it was revealed late on Thanksgiving Day that Mr. Romney is a life-long Hungry Hungry Hippos player. A leaked manuscript of an unauthorized biography detailed his long history with the game. As a youth, he spent three years training under famed coach Dirk Bollettieri, who has coached ten world #1 Hungry Hungry Hippos players. Although Mr. Romney never played professionally, he was a nationally ranked junior player, and was heavily recruited by several pro teams.

As Governor of Massachusetts, Mr. Romney often used Hungry Hungry Hippos to resolve disputes among his cabinet members. More than one weak player resigned in frustration, unable to secure the Governor's backing for funding their departments.

Mr. Giuliani had been publicly predicting a three-to-zero sweep in the match, but has now retreated to his mountain lair, presumably to train.

Lost "Star Trek" Script

I found this fragment of an old TV script at a rummage sale.

STAR TREK
"UNCLE WANYA"

INT. ENTERPRISE BRIDGE

KIRK
(voiceover)

Captain's log, stardate 6.02x10^23. The enterprise is on a diplomatic mission, transporting Ambassador Zdechlik to Rigel 6. Ten light-years from our destination, we encountered a previously unknown interstellar barrier. According to sensors, it is composed of pure energy.

KIRK
Lieutenant Chekhov -- visual, minimum magnification.

CHEKHOV fiddles with his control panel, and a swirling whirlpool-like object appears on the screen.

CHEKHOV
It's a wortex!

MCCOY
A what?

KIRK
What's that at the center of the vortex? Maximum magnification, Lieutenant.

CHEKHOV again adjusts his control panel. A menacing space ship is at the center of the vortex.

CHEKHOV
An alien wessel! Possibly of Wulcan origin!

MCCOY
A what? From where?

SPOCK
I hardly think it's necessary to describe a Vulcan ship as "alien," Lieutenant.

KIRK
Scan it with our sensors.

CHECKHOV
It's... wacant, Captain.

MCCOY
We're on year 4 1/2 of our five-year mission, and he still can't speak English!

KIRK
Vacant? No life forms? Has there been a life-support failure? Scan for appropriate temperature, artificial gravity, atmosphere.

CHEKHOV
The interior has no air -- it's a wacuum.

KIRK
Has the hull been breached? Any sign of battle?

CHEKHOV
The ship is intact. No signs of wiolence.

KIRK
And yet the ship is completely devoid of life? Please scan again.

CHEKHOV
I will werify.

CHEKHOV beats his control panel like a drum

CHEKHOV (cont'd)
Wacuum. No oxygen. No nitrogen. Not so much as a molecule of water wapor.
(continues to fiddle with control panel)

MCCOY
They're dead, Jim!

CHEKHOV
I see evidence that they're the wictims of Klingon wengeance.

KIRK
What evidence?

CHEKHOV
Womit.

KIRK
Vomit?

CHEKHOV
Womit. Sensors detect wast amounts of womit on the Wulcan wessel.

SPOCK
If I may, Lieutenant... Captain, the Klingons have been known to be working on biological weapons. It's possible that they've devised a bacteria...

CHEKHOV
(interjecting)
... or wirus!

SPOCK
... or virus that causes deadly gastroenteritis.

KIRK
Bones! What do you think of this? Could it be contagious? Could the Enterprise be at risk?

MCCOY
Jim, I'm a doctor, not a doc... never mind. Yes, it could be a threat to our crew. Or at least to those of us with green blood.

(Awkward pause, as MCCOY and KIRK smile at one another, and SPOCK arches an eyebrow.)

KIRK
Humans might be immune?

MCCOY
It's impossible to know, without collecting a sample.

KIRK
If you had a sample, could you come up with a cure?

CHEKHOV
A waccine?

Trump to End Tradition of Pardoning Thanksgiving Turkey

President-elect Donald Trump lashed out at President Obama early today over the yearly White House ritual of pardoning a turkey. In a series of 3 a.m. tweets, the real estate mogul laid out an air-tight logical case for ending the practice.

"Pardon a turkey? Obama has lost his mind! Sad!"

"These turkeys are criminals, drug dealers. Some, I assume, are good poultry."

"Say what you will about crooked Hillary, but she wouldn't let these birds get off scot-free."

"Mickey Dolenz was always my favorite Monkee."

"Before we know it, we'll have a Willie Horton situation, with super-predator turkeys roaming our streets."

The White House declined requests for comment, except to cite Article II, Section 2 of the United States Constitution, which gives the president dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Trump Said to be Contemplating New Name for the White House

President-elect Donald Trump and his closest advisors have been hard at work, winnowing down their lengthy list of potential new names for the US presidential residence, long known as the White House. Sources close to the businessman-turned-politician say that the Trump Organization, as the only global luxury real estate super-brand, must be very careful when branding their latest acquisition.

"The obvious name, Trump Palace, alas, is taken," said one insider, on condition of anonymity. He went on to list some of the finalists:

Trump House
Trump Potomac
Trump Manor
Trump Château
Trump Villa
Trumpety-Trump-Trump-Trump

Mr. Trump was overheard saying "Villa - is that Mexican? It sounds Mexican. My friends the Mexicans would love that."

Perhaps surprisingly, "the White House" is still in the running. "It just makes sense," argued a long-time associate of Mr. Trump. "After all, who will be the beneficiaries of the Trump administration? What word better defines the next four years?"

After an awkward pause, the source said "White. The word white. That's what word. Defines the next four... I gotta go." He glanced at his bare wrist as if he were wearing a watch, and scuttled off like a crab.
